WILLIAM S. WHITE, EX-PUBLISHER, DIES

William Stearns White, retired book publisher and for the past 10 years a resident of Palm Beach, who died at a local hospital late Wednesday night following a long illness. His home was at 141 Seaview Ave.

Born at Ann Arbor, Mich., the son of the Rev. Henry and Nancy White, Mr. White was graduated from Albion College in 1889 and for a time taught in the Michigan schools. He was connected with the American Book Co. for many years and later was New York manager for Lyons and Carnahan, Chicago publishers. Since his retirement he had spent his winters here and his summers in the North Carolina mountains. He is survived by his wife, the former Helen Hoover, who before her marriage to Mr. White was Mrs. Virgil Ormond Strickler of New York.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 p. m. at the chapel of the Ferguson Funeral Home with a Christian Science reader officiating.
