C. F. Wood, Brecksville Leader, Dies
Charles F. Wood, owner of the Dillow & Wood funeral home and active in Brecksville civic affairs, died Sunday in his home. He was 57.
The funeral home was founded in 1906 by Mr. Wood's late father-in-law, C. J. Dillow. Mr Wood joined him in the firm in 1935 after his graduation from the Cleveland College of Embalming.
Mr. Wood was born in Richfield, O., and married Elisabeth Dillow in 1928. He was assistant cashier of the Brecksville Bank for five years prior to joining the funeral director firm.
He was clerk of the Brecksville Board of Education for 10 years and served for 20 years as a volunteer with the Brecksville Fire Department. He was a charter member of the Brecksville Kiwanis Club, the Men's Club and the business association of the community.

He belonged to Theodore Breck Masonic Lodge, the Richfield United Church of Christ and Chippewa Lodge of the Odd Fellows.
Mr. Wood was affiliated with the Cuyahoga County Funeral Directors Association, the Cleveland Embalmers Association and several other professional organizations, including the Order of the Golden Rule.
His wife, who is also a licensed funeral director, and a son-in-law, Harold Cassidy, will continue the operation of the concern.
Also surviving hare are his mother, Mrs. Harry F. Wood; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Cassidy and Mrs. Betty Jo Elenz; two brothers, a sister and two grandchildren.
The family residence is on the grounds of the funeral home at 8969 Brecksville Road, Brecksville.
Friends may call today and tomorrow. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow.
