H. N. Young, Local Insurance Man, Dies After Long Illness

Howard N. Young, Richmond insurance man, died Tuesday afternoon after a long illness at the age of 73 years. He lived at 415 North Fifteenth street.

Mr. Young was born May 29, 1879 in New Paris, Ohio, the son of George F. and Sarah Johnson Young. He attended school in New Paris and lived there until 1910 when he moved with his family to Richmond.

Mr. Young started in the insurance business when a young man, first with Prudential Insurance company, operating in New Paris and Eaton, Ohio. He continued with Prudential after moving to Richmond until 1916 when he established a local agency, the H. N. Young Insurance Agency.

He had offices in the Comstock building until July, 1949. The business had been continued by his son, Bernard J. Young, since his father's retirement about 17 years ago.

Survivors include the widow, Julia H. Young; one daughter, Mrs. Charles V. Coghlan of Louisville, Ky.; the son, Bernard; two grandchildren, Charles and Nancy Coghlan of Louisville, and a sister, Mrs. Jessie B. Smith of Seattle, Wash.

Funeral services for Mr. Young will be held Friday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Mary church with burial in St. Mary cemetery. Friends may call at the Waltermann and Riggle funeral home after noon Thursday.

Mrs. Julia H. Young

Julia H. Young, 97, formerly of 1220 E. Main St., died Wednesday evening after a long illness at Jenkins Hall, where she had resided for the past 71/2 years. She was the widow of Howard N. Young, a. local insurance agent. who died in April 1953.

A native of New Paris, Ohio, she had resided in Richmond for the past 70 years and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include one son, Bernard J. Young of Richmond: one daughter, Mrs. Charles V. Coghlan of Louisville, Ky.; two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one niece.

Short services for Mrs. Young will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at RiggleWaltermann Mortuary Inc., followed by funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's church.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
