Mary Stang, Mr. Shay Wed In Pontiac

ROWE. — (PNS) — Miss Mary Stang, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stang of Pontiac, and Orin Shay, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Shay of near Pontiac, were married at 11 a. m. Monday at the St. Paul Lutheran parsonage here. The Rev. Arthur M. Olson, pastor of the church, officiated.

The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bressner of Pontiac.

The bride is a graduate of the Pontiac Hich school and is employed at the Fashion Built shoe factory. Mr. Shay attended Cornell Community High school and has been employed at the Fashion Built shoe factory the past five years and also has an interest in the Cross Roads Service station.

Following a short wedding trip Mr. and Mrs. Shay will reside in an apartment in Pontiac.

Orin Shay

PONTIAC (PNS) — Orin Shay, 51, of 909 W. Madison, Pontiac, died at 9:45 p.m. Monday at Brokaw Hospital in Normal after a short illness.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Rowe Lutheran Church, the Rev. Hermin Lehman officiating. Burial will be in Rowe Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Harris Funeral Home.

Mary A. Rogers

PONTIAC — Mary A. Rogers, 76, of Pontiac died at 1 p.m. Monday (Aug. 1, 2005) at Livingston Manor.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of the arrangements. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church at Rowe.

Mary was born Aug. 8, 1928, at Pontiac, a daughter of Harry and Alverde Street Stang. She married Orin Shay in 1948. He died in 1965. She later married Walt Rogers in 1969. He preceded her in death in 1992. Survivors include two stepchildren, Richard Rogers, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Nancy (Steve) Kuepker, Yakima, Wash.; one brother, Harold Stang, Pontiac; one sister, Genevieve Stang, Bowling Green, Ohio; two stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Mary was educated in Pontiac schools and a graduate of Pontiac High School. Mary was employed at Fashion Built Shoe Factory from 1946 until it closed. Later she was an aide at Evenglow Lodge. She was then employed at Allis Electronics and then Humiston Haven Nursing Home in the activities department, retiring in 1987.

She was a member of the Pontiac Sportsman's Club; past member of Women of the Moose; Royal Neighbors; VFW Auxiliary; St. Paul Lutheran Church at Rowe; and Polish National Alliance in Joliet.
