PONTIAC — Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stang will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary Saturday, Oct. 31, at an open house beginning at 7:30 p. m. in the new Pontiac home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Orin Shay, 909 West Madison St.
No written invitations have been issued by the party planners, the couple's two daughters, Miss Genevieve Stang of Springfield and Mrs. Shay, and their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Harold Stang of Pontiac.
The couple has another son, James, of Dallas, Texas, who married recently and was here on his wedding trip but will not be back for his parents' anniversary celebration. One other child, a daughter, LaDonna, died April 7, 1930. Mr. and Mrs. Stang have four grandchildren.
Mr. Stang, who is employed by the Chenoa Stone Co., and Mrs. Stang were born and reared near Pontiac and have lived here al their married life.
They were married on Nov. 1, 1919, at the Methodist parsonage with the Rev. M. O. O'Hara officating. Their attendants were her brother, Delmar Street, who died five years ago, and Rose Russul, now Mrs. Delmar Street of Pontiac. Mrs. Stang's maiden name was Alverda Street.

The funeral for Harry Stang, 72, 901 W. Madison St., was held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Rowe with Rev. Herman Lehman officiating. Mrs. Diana Schlueter was organist.
Burial was in South Side Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Melvin Brudor of La Crosse, Ind., and Fred Casey, Everett Johns, Howard Ramsey, Lloyd Miller and Harold Legner, all of Pontiac.

PONTIAC — Alverda A. Stang, 79, a resident of Humston Haven Nursing Home for eight years, died at 8:35 a.m. Friday after a long illness.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Raleigh J. Harris Funeral Home, the Rev. Keith Larson officiating. Burial will be in South Side Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born Oct. 6, 1902, in rural Pontiac, a daughter of Chauncey and Julia Garrett Street. She married Harry Stang Nov. 1, 1919, in Pontiac. He died Nov. 19, 1969.
Surviving are two sons, Harold E., Flanagan, and James L., Houston, Texas; two daughters, Mary Rogers, Pontiac, and Genevieve Stang, Bowling Green, Ohio; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
