Miss Allen, J. W. Jennings Married Today

Couple Will Be At Home In Indianolo, Iowa, After April 10

A spring wedding of interest to Madison took place this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock when Miss Edith Allen, daughter of Prof. and Mrs. A. E. Allen, 2014 Chamberlin avenue, was married to J. Ward Jennings, Indianola, Iowa, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Jennings, Winfield, Kansas. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. R. W. Barstow at the home of the bride's parents among spring flowers, smilax, palms and ferns.

The bride, exquisite in a French embroidered white crepe gown and a picture hat of pink horsehair braid trimmed in white angora, was given in marriage by her father. She carried a bouquet of Butterfly roses, sweet peas and iris.

Miss Elinor Collins, as maid of honor, wore a two-tone rose crepe dress and a rose picture hat of horsehair braid. Her bouquet was of roses, sweet peas and larkspur. Harold Allen, brother of the bride, was best man.

Following the wedding trip to Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Jennings will be at home after April 10, at Indianola, Iowa.

The bride attended Milwaukee-Downer college and was graduated from the University of Wisconsin with the class of 1928. Mr. Jennings received a masters degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1928 and is at present on the faculty of Simpson college.

Out-of-town guests at the wedding included: Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Jennings, Winfield, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Funk, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Davis, Waupun; Mrs. Hope Zimmerman, La Grange, Ill.; Mrs. James P. Irwin, Milwaukee and Miss Caroline West, Milwaukee.

Rites Held for C. R. Slater, 75

Funeral services for Clarence R. Slater, 75, Miami, Fla., formerly of Madison, who died unexpectedly Thursday at his home, were to be held today at the Allgood funeral home, Perrine, Fla. Burial was to be in Miami.

Mr. Slater was a 33rd degree Mason, and Masonic rites were to be conducted.

While a resident of Madison, Mr. Slater was associated in the construction of the first addition to Camp Randall Stadium.

He is survived by his wife, the former Edith Allen; one son, Charles E. Slater, Hamilton, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Louis Casale and Mrs. Robert Stearns, both of Miami, Fla., and seven grandchildren.
