Retired AP newsman dies

SEATTLE (AP) — Edward W. Anderson, 69, an Associated Press newsman whose 41 years of reporting included coverage of a famous kidnaping and the first attempt to oust a Washington governor, died Saturday after an extended illness.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete; but services were to be held in Omak, Wash., home of his widow, Hazel, who survives. Precht Funeral Home there will complete the arrangements.

Anderson went to work for The Associated Press in 1926 in the Olympia bureau after briefly holding positions with the Puyallup Valley Herald and The Daily Olympian that same year. In 1929 he transferred to the Seattle AP bureau, where he served as a reporter and later as an editor until his retirement in 1967.
