ANNIS — Died in Nashua, N.H., Sunday, Sept. 19, 1993, Mrs. Doris E. Annis, 83, of 22 Hunt St., Nashua, wife of James R. Annis. Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock St., Nashua, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the Pilgrim Congregational Church Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock followed by vurial in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Wilton. Friends are invited to attend. James R. Annis, 85, a longtime resident of Perry Avenue, Nashua, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 8, 1994, at a Nashua nursing home after a lengthy illness.
He had been employed as superintendent of fleet maintenance with the former Blue Line Express Inc., of Nashua for 26 years. He retired in 1985. He had previously been employed as a mechanic with the former Nashua Manufacturing Co., and during World War II, he was employed as a foreman with Improved Machinery Corp.
He was a member of Granite Lodge I, Nashoonon Encampment and Patriarchs Militant of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows; a member of Rising Sun Lodge 39, F & AM, all Scottish Rites Bodies in the Valley of Nashua, and the N.H. Consistory 32nd Degree. He was also a member of Bektash Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S. of Concord, and had been a drummer and manager of the Shrine Band for many years. He was a member of the Indian Head Shrine Club of Nashua and a former member of Mecca Investment Club.
He was a member of the Pilgrim Congregational Church of Nashua. he was educated in Nashua schools and was a graduate of Nashua High School.
He was born in Wilton, on Feb. 28, 1909, son of the late George E. and Myrta (Sumner) Annis. He had lived in Nashua for most of his life.
He was the widower of Madeline L. (Johnson) Annis, who died in 1943, and Doris E. (Classon) Annis, who died in 1993.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Edna M. and Christos Anagnost of Nashua; a son and daughter-in-law, Edward M and Elizabeth Annis of Amherst; four grandchildren, Kristin Anagnost of Brighton, mass., Susan Anagnost of Nashua, James H. Annis of Nashua, and Linda L. Coburn and her husband, Brian, of Weare; a sister, Anna F. Cameron of Manchester; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Farwell Funeral Service in Nashua is in charge of arrangements.
