Maurice Sheffer, Pauline Baker Wed In Christmas Day Services

WILLIAMSBURG. — The marriage of Miss Pauline Baker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Baker of Williamsburg and Maurice Sheffer was solemnized on Christmas morning at 9:30 o'clock in the Evangelical United Brethren church, Richmond. Mr. Sheffer is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sheffer also of Williamsburg.

Rev. Homer Achor, pastor of the church, officiated at the ceremony. Palms banked the altar which was lighted by tapers in seven branch candelabra. Other decorations were appropriate to the Christmas season.

Music was provided by Robert Phillips, organist and Evelyn Smith, vocalist. Their program included: "Concerto," (Tschaikowsky), organ; "I Love You Truly," (Bond), vocal; "Clair de Lune," (Debussy), organ; "O Promise Me," (DeKoven), vocal; "If I Could Tell You," (Firestone), organ; "Because," (d'Hardelot), vocal; "Always," (Berlin), organ. The organist also played "I Love You Truly," (Bond), during the ceremony and the traditional weddings marches.

Attend Couple

Miss Josephine Baker, sister of the bride and Robert Sheffer, brother of the bridegroom, attended the couple. The ushers were William Jacobs and Robert Shute.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a winter white street length crepe dress with gold bead trimming. It was styled with cap sleeves and ballerina skirt. She wore black accessories and red rose corsage.

Miss Josephine Baker wore a street length gown of dusty rose with sequin trim. Her accessories were black and her flowers a corsage of yellow roses.

Mrs. Baker, mother of the bride, wore a wine velvet dress with black accessories. Mrs. Sheffer, mother of the bridegroom, wore a green crepe dress and black accessories. Both wore white rose corsages.

Following the ceremony a dinner was served to the immediate families at the home of the bride's parents. A three-tiered wedding cake centered the table. The bride is a graduate of the Williamsburg High school in the class of 1945. She is employed by the Lehr Equipment Sales, Inc., of Richmond. The bridegroom, also graduated from Williamsburg High school. He is attending Indiana University.

Out-of-town guests at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gilmore, Dayton; Wesley Applegate, Cincinnati; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Phelps and sons, Fountain City.

Pauline A. Sheffer

Pauline A. Sheffer, 77, of 738 Cherry St., Galion, Ohio, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at The Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus, after a brief illness.

Mrs. Sheffer was born in Henry County, Ind., on Oct. 2, 1927, to the late Frank L. and Gertrude O. (Applegate) Baker. She married Maurice H. Sheffer on Dec. 25, 1947, in Richmond, Ind., and he survives her.

Mrs. Sheffer had lived in Galion since 1970, coming from Cincinnati; was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Galion; Galion Country Club, National Republican Party and Women's Bridge Arama. Pauline enjoyed bird watching, gardening and playing bridge.

She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl and Timothy Garner, Noblesville, Ind., Karen Sheffer, Columbus; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Josephine and Gene Riley, Franklin, Tenn., and Shirley and Denis Bedard, Dallas, Texas.

She was preceded in death by one grandson; two brothers, Max and Raymond Baker.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005, and from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2005, at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion, Ohio. Graveside services will be held at Williamsburg Cemetery in Williamsburg, Ind., on Monday, March 7, 2005, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Ray Music officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul United Methodist Church Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
