Phyllis M. McClain

WILLIAMSBURG — Phyllis M. McClain 75, 8459 Pleasant Street, Williamsburg, died Saturday Jan. 21 at Reid Hospital following a long illness.

She was born Oct. 18, 1918 in Richmond to Henry and Mary Warner Sheffer and has resided in Williamsburg for the past 60 years. She was a former employe of Williamsburg High Shcool and Richmond Community Schools. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Richmond, 50-year member and past worthy matron of the Williamsburg Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Tarum Shrine Club, Richmond. Her husband Emerson "Red" McClain died in 1971.

Survivors include one son, Ronald McClain of Richmond; one daughter Mary Lou Evans of Centerville; two brothers, Robert Sheffer of Williasmburg and Maurice Sheffer of Galion, Ohio; one sister, Marjorie Stevens of Richmond; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in deaty by one grandson, Ronald McClain Jr.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan.23 at the Smith & McQuistion Funeral Home, Fountain City, with Rev. Glenn McGuire officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery, Richmond. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The Williasmburg Order of the Easter Star service will be at 8 p.m. today.
