A pretty wedding was solemnized at the home of Mrs. Mary Warner, Warren St., at 1 o'clock Xmas afternoon when Miss Mary L. Warner became the bride of Mr. Henry J. Shaffer of Richmond, Ind., Rev. J. J. Douglas pastor of the Christian church officiating.

Miss Warner is a popular young lady and graduate of the Greenville High School while the groom is an exemplary young man.

After a short wedding trip the happy couple will be at home to their friends at Richmond, Ind.

50th Anniversary Nears For Williamsburg Couple

WILLIAMSBURG — A reception from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 20, in the First United Methodist Church, Richmond, is planned to celebrate the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Sheffer of Williamsburg.

Mr. and Mrs. Sheffer have four children, Mrs. Marjorie Stevens, Richmond, Mrs. Phyllis McClain and Roldand D. Sheffer, both of Williamsburg, and Maurice Sheffer of Galion, Ohio. They have eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Sheffer was Miss Virgil Winkler of Shelbyville. For a number os years, she operated her own candy store here, retiring in 1954. She formerly had worked for the Richmond Candy Company and Abbott's Candy Shop in Hagerstown. Mr. Sheffer is a retired employe of the Richmond plant of the Perfect Crcle Division, Dana Corporation.

Mr. and Mrs. Sheffer were married in their home, 12 South Eighteenth St., by Rev. H. S. James of the United Brethren Church. Mr. Sheffer is a member of the Masonic Lodge of Williamsburg and Mrs. Sheffer is a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Mrs. Henry Sheffer

WILLIAMSBURG —Mrs. Virgil L. (Virg) Sheffer, 86, died Monday evening at Reid Memorial Hospital in Richmond, after a brief illness. She was a native of Rush County and had lived in Wayne County for the past 60 years.

She was a candymaker, had her own business in Williaimsburg and also had worked for the Richmond Candy Co. and Abbott's Candy Co. in Hagerstown. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Richmond and Taylor Chapter No 228, Order of Eastern Star, of Williamsburg.

Survivors include her husband, Henry; two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Stevens of Richmond and Mrs. Phyllis McClain of Williamsburg; two sons, Robert D. of Williamsburg and Maurice H. of Galion, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Maud Kuhn, Shelby County; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services for Mrs. Sheffer will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home, Rev. H. M. Cobb officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Henry J. Sheffer

A native of Randolph County who had sepnt most of his life in Wayne County died unexpectedly Friday morning at the Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, where he was admitted on Thursday.

Henry J. Sheffer, 81, of Willamsburg, retired from the Perfect Circle Corp. in Richmond in 1960, was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Richmond and the Williamsburg Lodge No. 493, Free and Accepted Masons, in Williamsburg.

Survivors include two daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Stevens of Richmond and Mrs. Phyllis McClain of Williamsburg; two sons, Robert Sheffer of Williamsburg and Maurice Sheffer of Galion, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Iva Bryan of Indianapolis; one brother, Orville Sheffer of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services for Mr. Sheffer will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home, Rev. H.M. Cobb officiating. Burial will be in Ealrham Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
