EMOR SMITH BALLOU, son of MARY SMITH and JONATHAN BALLOU, was born June 26, 1798 in Smithfield, Rhode Island,^{1, 4021} and died October 27, 1879 in Elbridge, Oceana, Michigan.⁴⁰²¹ He is buried in Elbridge Township Cemetery, Hart, Oceana, Michigan.⁴⁵⁶

He married LYDIA DAVIS on November 4, 1821 in Providence, Saratoga, New York,⁴⁰²¹ daughter of PHEBE CASE and PARDON DAVIS. She was born April 11, 1805 in Providence, Saratoga, New York,⁴⁰²¹ and died November 10, 1861 in Girard, Branch, Michigan.⁴⁰²¹ She is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Girard, Branch, Michigan.⁴⁵⁶
