Frank Bell, forty years old, died Saturday evening at 7 o'clock at the home of his sister, Mrs. Elmer Smith, in East Main Street—the old Bell homestead—following an illness of several months, of tuberculosis. While in California about two years ago. Mr. Bell suffered a slight stroke of paralysis. From that time he was never the strong, robust man physically he had been before. As soon as he could leave the hospital he came home, and although he assisted his brother Louis in the work of conducting the Bell hardware store after returning home, he gradually failed in health. A month or so since he suffered a severe hemorrhage, and several similar attacks had come up during the last three weeks. He grew weaker and weaker until the end came. Mr. Bell had been bedfast about a mouth.
Deceased was the son of the late William N. and Virginia A. Bell and was one of the well-known young men of this community. Knightstown had been his home all his life, his death occurring in the same room in which he first saw the light of day forty years ago. Of his father's family there survive two sons and two daughters—Louis and Reginald Bell and Mrs. Elmer Smith, this city, and Mrs. Ross Thornton, of Marion.
The funeral, which was private, was held at the home of his sister, Mrs. Elmer Smith, in East Main street, Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock, conducted by Rev. William Carson, of Indianapolis, former pastor of the Presbyterian church, this city. The pallbearers were his two brothers, other relatives and James L. Shelton, who acted as a representative of the K. of P. lodge, of which the deceased was a member. The body was laid to rest in the Bell lot in Glencove cemetery, C. F. Baxter, undertaker, in charge.
Out-of-town friends in attendance at the funeral were John King and daughter, Mrs. Charles Deeter, Mrs. Lambert and Earl Woodard, Indianapolis, Mrs. Homer Bragg, of Muncie, and Mrs. Wood L. Walker and Mrs Oren Henley, Greenfield.
