Guye C. Blaine, 60, of 18306 R. D. Mize Road, Independence, died Thursday at a hospital in Independence, Kan. He was born in Warrensburg, Mo., and lived here 15 years. Mr. Blaine was a tool repairman for the Ford Motor Company. He was an elder in the First Christian Church of Independence. Mr. Blaine was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Palestine Commandery, Independence Council, High 12 and Scottish Rite Bodies. He was a past chapter dad for the Independence Chapter of the Order of DeMolay. He was a member of the Mother Preceptory DeMolay Legion of Honor. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Nola Blaine of the home; his mother, Mrs. Willa Johnson, Sacramento, Calif., and two brothers, Henry Blaine, Tallahassee, Fla. and Elmer Blaine, Sacramento, Calif. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church; burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery. Masonic services will be at 8 p.m. Sunday at Mount Moriah Chapel, where friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The family requests no flowers and suggests contributions to the church memorial fund.

Nola V. Blaine, 88, of Independence, Mo., passed away May 11, 2006, at Carmel Hills Nursing Home. She was born January 26, 1918, to Alta Henderson and Aaron Jeff Bryant in Montgomery County. She attended Neodesha High School. In 1935, Nola married Guye C. Blaine at the First Baptist Church in El Dorado, Kan. In 1938, they moved to Kansas City, where she was employed by Montgomery & Co. Mail Order as a supervisor, retiring after 44 years in 1982. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star 329, Social Order of Beauceant No. 150. She was a kind and loving person, who loved helping others. She is survived by her son (nephew), Donald Lee Allen; one sister, Neva Plummer; 20 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews who loved her dearly. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday, May 15, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
