James Bower Sr.

FINKSBURG —James WIlliam Bower Sr., 90, of Finksburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 1988, at Baltimore County General Hospital, following an extended illness.

Born in Finksburg, he was the son of the late William S. and Mary Wampler Bower.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army in France. He owned and operated his own trucking company, R&R Express, until his retirement in 1966.

He was a lifelong member of Moutn Zion United Methodst Church and a life member of VFW Post 521.

Surviving are his wife, Catherine Mildred Mann Bower; two sons, Robert and Thomas Bower, both of Finksburg; five daughters, Evelyn Weiss of Ruxton, Irene Howard of Randallstown, Virginia Harvey of Riviera Beach, Doris Gill of Finksburg and Sharon Almoney of New Oxford, Pa.; 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, Owings Mills, with the Rev. Joseph Puckhaber, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Finksburg Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Finksburg 21048.
