She was born March 21, 1872 in Fort Scott, Bourbon, Kansas,11265 and died May 2, 1955 in Cannes, France.11265 She is buried in Greenwood Memorial Park, San Diego, San Diego, California.456

MARRIAGE OF LOTTIE SCOTT

Former Iola Girl Wedded This Morning to Idaho Man at Blackfoot, Idaho.

Miss Lottie A. Scott was united in marriage this morning at 9 o'clock to Mr. Jackson Burns at the residence of the Scott sisters in Blackfoot, Idaho. Miss Scott is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Scott of Iola and is well known here. She is a graduate of the Iola high schools, and went to Idaho from Iola about ten years ago. During most of that time she has been teaching. She taught in the vicinity of Blackfoot for two years and later for four years taught in the Blackfoot schools. Miss Scott had developed into one of the best teachers in Idaho and was rapidly advancing to the head of her profession. Her sister, Miss May Scott, is state superintendent of public instruction for Idaho. Miss Scott is an attractive and loveable girl, who has many friends in and about Iola to wish her much happiness. Her parents are among the older residents of Iola and Allen county. All of the immediate family were present at the wedding in Blackfoot this morning, with the exception of Miss Scott's father, D. H. Scott, who is in Iola and the older brother, Winnie, who is in Coffeyville.

Mr. Burns is a passenger conductor on the Idaho Short Line and has been in the service of that road for twelve years. He is in line of promotion and has a promising future.

After the ceremony this morning Mr. and Mrs. Burns left for Pocatella, Idaho, where they will make their home.

Pocatello

John Burns, a pioneer resident of Pocatello and for over 30 years in the employ of the Oregon Short Line died at San Diego Tuesday after a lingering illness. Mrs. Burns and the two children were at the bedside when the end came. "Jack" Burns was born at Kenosha, Wis., April 13, 1859. He came to this state and entered the employ of the railroad in 1888 and has been in continuous service as a passenger conductor up until a few months ago. His last runs were on the Yellowstone and Mackay lines. Burns was a member of the Elks and the Brotherhood of Railway Conductors. THe body is being brought to Pocatello.

Charlotte Burns Dies in France

One of the noted Scott sisters of Idaho and a former Pocatellan, Mrs. Charlotte Alice Burns, died May 2 in the Anglo-American Hospital in Cannes, France, following a prolonged illness resulting from an operation performed in March, 1954, in Cannes.

Mrs. Burns opened on of the first drug stores in Southeastern Idaho in Blackfoot and for many years she owned the North Main Pharmacy in Pocatello.

She was born Charlotte Alice Scott March 21, 1872 in Fort Scott, Kansas. She arrived in Southeastern Idaho in 1890 as a school teacher and she was one of the group known as the "Scott Sisters." One sister, May L. Scott was state superintendent of public instruction, and later state treasurer. She married Senator Harry S. Worthman. Two other sisters, Anna Scott and Bertha Scott were school teachers.

In 1905, Charlotte A. Scott was married in Blackfoot to John J. Burns, one of the popular pioneer Oregon Short Line conductors, who had runs out of Pocatello. He died Jan. 27, 1919, in San Diego, Calif.

Mrs. Burns spent her later years in San Francisco and Los Angeles, coming to Europe in 1952 to make her home with her daughter, Ann Scott Burns and son, John Wright Burns, both of Cannes, France.

The body was cremated in Marseilles, France, and burial was in the Greenwood cemetery in San Diego, Calif.
