THOMAS DANA

Thomas Dana passed away at Grande Prairie on Wednesday, June 16, 1982, at the age of 68 years. He was born in Washington, U.S.A., and hadd been a resident of the Goodwin area since 1919, when he settled there along with ihs parents. He homesteaded on the Simmonette River, served in the U.K. and continental Europe during W.W.II and returned to farm until his passing. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, DeBolt, and was past president in 1977-78.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; one son, Dale (Debbie) in B.C.; and daughter, Carol, in Vancouver; one brother, Gene (Grace) of DeBolt; one sister, Peggy (Ike) Doerkson of B.C.; his mother, Mrs. Margaret Dana of DeBolt; and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father, David and by a brother, Cal.

Funeral service for the late Thomas Dana will be held at the United Church, DeBolt, on Monday, June 21, 1982, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Terry Forbes officiating. Interment to follow at the Goodwin cemetery. Memorial donations to the Alberta Heart Fund would be gratefully appreciated by the family.

GERTRUDE LOUISE (GROVES) DANA

Mrs. Gertrude Louise Dana passed away at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, Grande Prairie, Alberta on Thursday, February 4, 1988, at the age of 76.

She was born at Burnetta (Lomond), Alberta on February 9, 1911, to Paul and Margareta Ost.

She is survived by sons and daughters, Doug (Lillian) Groves of DeBolt, Herb Groves of DeBolt, Tony Groves of Kelowna, B.C., Margaret (Reuben) Newman of DeBolt, and Marj (Jack) Scott of Crooked Creek; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, 1 sister; and many other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Ike Groves, in 1957; son Edward in 1935; mother Margareta in 1963; a brother in 1964; and her father Paul in 1972. She married Tom Dana in 1972, and he predeceased her in 1982.

Funeral service for the late Gertrude Louise Dana will be held at the DeBolt Centennial Hall, DeBolt, Alberta on Monday, February 8, 1988, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. John Roy officiating. Interment to take place at the DeBolt Cemetery.

Flowers are gratefully accepted, or if so desired, friends may make a memorial to the charity of their choice.
