Garnett J. Davis

1916-2007

Garnett J. Davis, 91, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2007 at Alta View Hospital in Sandy, Utah. She had moved to Utah earlier this year to be close to her family.

Garnett was born on January 7, 1916 in Riffe, Washington to Allen and Maude Schwartz. She was the oldest of four children. She was married to Dr. Iler C. Anderson for 26 years, and except for a short period in Alaska, lived in Olympia until his death. Later, she was married to Joe Davis for 25 years and lived in Seattle until he retired; they then returned to Olympia. She had been a widow for the last 12 years.

Garnett is survived by her only daughter, Linda Lou Anderson Bennett; six grandchildren, Keri Lynn Hermann, Troy Bennett, Nicole Wistisen, Jessica Williams, Candice Smoot, and Chelsea Bennett; and 19 great-grandchildren.

During her adult life, Garnett traveled extensively to Europe, South America, Africa, the Middle East, and the Far East. With her husband, Joe Davis ("Mr. Labor" in Washington State), she met with local, state, and national political leaders. Later in life, she devoted much time to charitable work around Olympia. She could best be described as a gracious, out-reaching, and generous person. Garnett was a woman of great faith.
