He married (2) LAURA HOUSTON in Lowell, Massachusetts,⁴⁰ daughter of ZERVIAH FIELDS and JOHN HOUSTON. She was born August 19, 1813 in Lyndeborough, Hillsborough, New Hampshire,³⁴²⁰ and died October 13, 1887. She is buried in Fairview Cemetery, Lee County, Iowa.⁴⁵⁶
