Derrickson
ORION — Melvin Huston Derrickson, 73, of Orion, died at 4:15 this morning in Moline Lutheran Hospital, where he had been a patient three days. He had been in failing health for a year.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Benson-Kirk Funeral Home, Orion, with the Rev. Floyd Brewer, pastor of the Orion Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Western Cemetery, Orion.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
Mr. Derrickson was born Dec. 298, 1889 on a farm west of Orion, a son of John and Delila Derrickson. He was reared and received his education in the same community and had always been engaged in farming. He never married.
He was a member of the Orion Methodist Church and a charter member of the Orion American Legion Post. He was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are a sister, Miss Bessie Derrickson, and a brother, Alvin, both of Orion.
