Engagement and Coming Marriage Is Announced

An announcement of interest in Lancaster is being made today by Mr. and Mrs. L. I. Mulson of Newark who are telling of the engagement and coming marriage of Mrs. Mulson's sister Miss Elsie E. Basford to Mr. Richard H. Dunnington, son of Mrs. R. H. Dunnington of 428 East Fifth-av, Lancaster and the late Mr. Dunnington.

The exact date for the wedding has not yet been selected, but it will take place in the fall.

Miss Basford, who is the daughter of Mrs. George B. Basford of Phillipsburg, Pa., and the late Mr. Basford, is a graduate of Newark High School and Muskingum College. She has been a member of the faculty at East School for the past six years and is a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Mr. Dunnington graduated from Fairmont High School, Fairmont, W. Va. and attended Fairmont State College. He is now associated with the Anchor Hocking Glass Corporation in the downtown office.

On Her Wedding Day

In the late afternoon of November sixth, Miss Elsie Eugenie Basford, daughter of Mrs. George B. Basford of Phillipsburg, Pa. and Mr. Richard H. Dunnington, son of Mrs. R. H. Dunnington of East Fifth-av, Lancaster exchanged nuptial vows in the First Presbyterian Church. Dr. Benjamin F. Paist read the formal ceremony at half after four o'clock.

The new Mrs. Dunnington is a member of the faculty at East School and Mr. Dunnington is associated with the Anchor Hocking Glass Corporation.

They have established their home at 428 East Fifth-avenue.

R.H. Dunnington Jr.

R. H. Dunnington Jr., 61, of 988 Norway Drive, Columbus, died Monday, 9:45 a.m. in Riverside Hospital. A former Lancaster resident, he was with Anchor Hocking Corp. for some time, but had been serving with the Department of Motor Vehicles in Columbus.

He was a member of Lancaster Elks Lodge and had formerly been active in Lancaster Junior Chamber of Commerce. In Columbus, he was affiliated with Boulevard United Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are the wife, Elsie, who was a teacher in Lancaster Schools for a number of years: two sons, Donald L., Washington, D. C., and Richard III, Winston-Salem, N. C.; two grandchildren, Mary Jo and Richard Steven Dunnington; a niece, Mrs. Mary Jo Evans, Lancaster; three nephews, Irving Dunnington, lancaster, Richard of Charleston, W. Va., and Robert Dunnington, Tokyo, Japan.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 2:30 p.m., at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus; interment in Glen Rest Memorial Estates.

Friends may call at the funeral chapel Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Elise Dunnington

Elsie E. Dunnington, 92, died on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at First Community Village, where she was a longtime resident.

Elsie was born Feb. 26, 1915, in Phillipsburg, Penn. to George B. (Mary Colbe) Basford. She attended Muskingum College and received a degree in Education. Elsie taught in both Columbus and Lancaster City Schools. THroughout her life, Elsie volunteered in a wide range of causes from Cerebral Palsy and adult literacy to feeding the homeless. Elsie has been recognized with the Living Faith Award and Mayors Award for Volunteers. She was active in the Ohio Puppetry Guild at the city and state level. Elsie was an active member of First Community Church.

Elsie is survived by children, Richard (Stephanie) Dunnington and Donald (Karen) Dunnington; grandchildren, Mary Jo (James Doughty) Dunnington, Richard Stephen (Rose) Dunnington and Christine (Mark) Meagher; great-grandchildren, Colleen and Patrick Meagher and Caitlyn Doughty; and sister, Mary Denaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Dunnington, Jr.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, OH 43221.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at First Community Church, Burkhart Chapel, 1320 Cambridge Boulevard, Columbus, OH 43212. The Rev. Jim Long will be officiating. Family will receive friends in Brownlee Hall following services.

Private interment at Glen Rest Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to your local Literacy Council in Elsie's memory.
