Dyson-Richardson

Miss Marguerite Richardson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Richardson, became the bride of Gerald I. Dyson, of Cotulla, Texas, Saturday afternoon in the home of the bride's parents on Mildred street, with the Rev. Lawrence L. Cowan, officiating.

The home was decorated with ferns and radiant roses. Mrs. R. E. Woodard, sister of the bride, played the nuptial music and during the ceremony "I Love You Truly" was softly played.

Mrs. J. A. Guice, the sister of the bride, was matron of honor and the bridegroom's father, Mr. W. M. Dyson, attended him as his best man.

The bride's gown was of white lace and she carried a shower bouquet of white radiant roses.

After the ceremony an informal reception was held, with Mrs. A. B. Herring, sister of the bride, and Miss Sue Dyson, sister of the bridegroom, presiding at the punch table.

Mrs. Dyson's traveling ensemble was of navy blue with white accessories. She is a graduate of Centenary college, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority, and has been a popular teacher at Fair Park high school. Mr. Dyson is identified with construction interests of North Louisiana. He is a graduate of Texas university and a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

Gerald I. Dyson

RUSTON, LA - Services for Mr. Gerald I. Dyson, 89, will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 1998 in Burkhalter Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Reverend Rolly Walker and Dr. Douglas McGuire. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Kilpatrick Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 29.

Mr. Dyson died Monday, July 27, 1998 in Lincoln General Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Cotulla, Texas and was educated at Schreiner Institute and the University of Texas. He was a retired corporate treasurer and director for T. L. James & Company, Inc.; his business career for the Ruston based corporation spanned the period 1931-1986. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over sixty years serving in various capacities.

A devoted family leader, he is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marguerite R. Dyson of Ruston, three sons, Gerald W. Dyson and wife, Elizabeth of Birmingham, Alabama, Donald M. Dyson and wife Sandra of Ruston, and J. David Dyson and wife Jeannie of Atlanta, Georgia; a sister Sue D. Culbreth of San Antonio, Texas; nine grandchildren, Chris Dyson and wife Susan, Doug Dyson and wife Mandy, Joel Dyson and wife Temple, Darrell Dyson, Brian Dyson and wife Truly, Laura Dyson Causey and husband Matt, Suzanne Dyson, Jeffrey Dyson and Virginia Dyson; and six great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Will, Natalie, Luke, Abigail, and Scott Dyson.

As a role model for all of these descendants, your legacy continues. Our family has been truly blessed with a loving father whose devotion to family and whose Christian witness and life of integrity continues as an inspiration to all of us who called you Pop.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to the Louisiana Methodist Children's Home in Ruston or a favorite charity.

Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.

Mrs. Dyson died Thursday, December 6, 2001 at home after a brief illness. She was a native of Shreveport, LA and a member of the first graduating class of C.E. Byrd High School in 1926. After graduating from Centenary College in 1929, Mrs. Dyson taught school at Gibsland, Castor, Allendale (Shreveport), and Fair Park High School. She moved to Ruston in 1938 and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over sixty years serving as Sunday School teacher, MYF leader, and member of the United Methodist Women.

A devoted wife and mother, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Gerald I. Dyson. She is survived by three sons, Gerald W. Dyson and wife, Elizabeth of Birmingham, AL, Donald M. Dyson and wife, Sandra of Ruston and J. David Dyson and wife, Jeannie of Atlanta, GA; nine grandchildren, Chris Dyson and wife, Susan, Doug Dyson and wife, Mandy, Joel Dyson and wife, Temple, Darrell Dyson, Brian Dyson and wife, Truly, Laura Dyson Causey, Suzanne Dyson, Jeffrey Dyson and Virginia Dyson; ten great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Will, Natalie, Luke, Abigail, Scott, Jonah, Jake and Wesley Dyson, and Cameron Causey.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Chris Dyson, Doug Dyson, Joel Dyson, Darrell Dyson, Brian Dyson, and Jeffrey Dyson.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2001 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home.
