Miss Edith Engle Is Bride of Chinoan

Miss Edith Engle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Engle, 677 N. Currier street, became the bride of Melvin Hobbs of Chino Friday evening at the home of her parents.

The bride wore a gown of white chiffon over satin and carried a bouquet of white carnations. Her sister Miss Elizabeth Engle, and Miss Frances Lopez, were bridesmaids. They wore gowns of peach georgette. John Petty and Dr. Keller assisted Mr. Hobbs.

The home was decorated with a profusion of dahlias and fern, and a color motif of yellow and orchid was carried out.

On Saturday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Engle entertained with a supper in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Hobbs.

Guests present were Mrs. Baque, Mr. and Mrs. Monroy and family of Walnut, Miss Lucy Garcia, Misses Grace and Doris Garcia, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Garcia, Lewis Garcia, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Contrerray, John Contrerray, Mrs. Thomas Elliot and daughter, Pauline, Mr. and Mrs. Theo Garcia, Mrs. Wells and daughter, Ella, Miss Alta Wells, Tony Rojas, Joe Rojas, Irwin Shock, Miss Emma Engle, sister of the bride, and Mrs. Lawrence and family.

Edith Navarro

Mrs. Edith E. Navarro of 10024 Bel Air Ave., Montclair, died Saturday at Covina Inter-Community Hospital

Mrs. Navarro was born March 30, 1912 in Pomona and had lived in this area all of her life. She had resided in Montclair for the past 13 years.

Besides her husband, John, she is survived by two sons, Joseph Hobbs of Pomona and Marvin Hobbs of Santa Ana; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Homesley of Pomona and Mrs. Elizabeth Buckner of Barstow, six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Todd Memorial Chapel Pomona. Burial will be in Pomona Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Pomona chapel Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m.
