JOSEPH B. ENGLE

Joseph B. Engle, of 677 Currier street, passed away Wednesday morning at 10:15 o'clock at Los Angeles General hospital following a few days illness.

Mr. Engle was born in the state of Missouri on March 1, 1874. As a young man, he came to California from Kansas and he has made his home in Pomona for the last 46 years. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.

Surviving relatives are his widow, Mrs. Lena Engle; four daughters, Mrs. Eva Villanueva of Pasadena; Mrs. Elizabeth Buckner, Highlands, Calif.; Mrs. Edith Hobbs, Orange, Calif., and Mrs. Emma Perez of Pomona; two stepsons, George W. Trotter, Pomona, and Edward A. Trotter, Hawaiian islands.

Funeral services will be held in Todd & Reeves chapel Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. The Rev. C. W. Opie, pastor of the First Full Gospel church, will officiate. Interment will be made in Pomona cemetery.

MRS. LENA D. ENGLE

Mrs. Lena D. Engle of 677 N. Currier St., a lifelong resident of Pomona Valley, passed away at her home at 1:30 a.m. today after two years of illness.

She was born Jan. 18, 1883, in La Verne, the daughter of Manuel Garcia and his wife, Mrs. Isidora Palomares Garcia, both of whom were members of pioneer families.

Mrs. Engle is survived by two sons, George Trotter of Huntington Beach and Edward Trotter of Pomona; three daughters, Mrs. Eva Villanueva of Pasadena, Mrs. Elizabeth Buckner of Barstow and Mrs. Edith Hobbs of Pomona; three sisters, Miss Lucy Garcia, Mrs. Frances Contrerras and Mrs. Julia Velasquez, all of Monrovia; and four brothers, Victor Garcia of Orange, Fred Garcia of Los Angeles, Theodore Garcia of Arlington and Manuel Garcia of Olive. There are 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Todd Memorial North Chapel. The Rev. Dwight Brown, pastor of the Assembly of God, will officiate. Interment will be made in Pomona Cemetery by the side of her husband, J. B. Engle, who passed away in 1937.
