Ellicottville Man Stricken At Randolph

RANDOLPH — Stricken with a heart attack as he was about to leave the Borden Foods Co. machine shop in Randolph, Charles J. Ford, fifty-one, of Maples Rd., Ellicottville, died about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 3, 1968).

Mr. Ford, a day shift machinist, had completed overtime work when he was stricken. Dr. George A. Hays of Salamanca, a Cattaraugus County coroner, issued a certificate of death due to natural causes.

Born May 19, 1916, in the Town of Mansfield, Mr. Ford had been a resident of the Ellicottville area for twenty years. He was the son of Elon and Anna Byer Ford.

He was a member of Ellicottville Memorial Post 639, American Legion, the Conewango Forks Golf Club, Randolph, and Little Valley Riders Club, as well as several bowling teams.

He married Lillian Watson Feb. 11, 1939. She survives. Also surviving are a son, James Ford of Altamont; a daughter, Mrs. Everett Seavey of Little Valley; two grandsons; a brother, William Ford of Little Valley; a sister, Mrs. Alice Hawkins of Cattaraugus; a niece, a nephew and several aunts and uncles.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O'Rourke Funeral Home, 3 Jefferson St., Ellicottville, where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. William Blume of the Little Valley United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Maples Cemetery.

Lillian R. Ford

SALAMANCA — Lillian R. Ford, 88, of Hemlock Park, died Thursday (May 26, 2005) at the Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville.

She was born Feb. 11, 1917 in the town of Mansfield, the daughter of the late Charles W. and Ruth R. (Stewart) Watson.

On Feb. 11, 1939 in Cattaraugus, she married Charles J. Ford, who predeceased her in January of 1968.

Mrs. Ford was a surgical technician at Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville for 17 years. She worked as a cook at the Ellicottville Central School and was a home health care worker.

She attended both the Salamanca and Little Valley Congregational Church's. She was a member of the Little Valley Riders Club and was an avid horse rider.

Mrs. Ford is survived by a daughter, Ruth Ann (Larry) Paschen of Little Valley; four grandsons, Edwin (Roylien) Paschen, Michael Paschen, Joshua and Justin Ford and three great-grandchildren, Chelsie and Devon Paschen and Carolyn Ford.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a son, James W. Ford.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 411 Rock City St., Little Valley.

Memorials may be made to the Cattaraugus or Little Valley Ambulance Funds or the First Congregational Church in Little Valley.
