THE REV. T. ROBERT ELWELL OF SEATTLE, GREAT UNCLE of the bride, officiated at the marriage of Miss Evelyn Alden Elwell, daughter of Mrs. Alden Worcester Elwell of 1815 Como avenue southeast, to Mr. John Funk of Bemidji, which took place Wednesday evening at the home of the bride's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin S. Elwell, 5127 Belmont avenue.
The exchange of vows took place before an improvised altar of cibotium ferns, autumn leaves and candelabra. Before the ceremony, Mrs. Irving Lee Winslow, violinist and a member of the Minneapolis Symphony orchestra, and Miss Bernice Elefson, harpist, played a program of nuptial music.
The bride wore the white satin wedding gown and the tulle veil which had been worn by her sister, Mrs. James. J. McLaughlin (Jane Elwell) at her marriage. The gown had a matching jacket fashioned with short sleeves. The skirt ended in a long train and the high neckline was slightly draped. The full-length veil was held by a cap of tulle, and the bride carried a bouquet of gardenias and lilies of the valley.
Mrs. McLaughlin, as matron of honor, wore a gown of maize colored velvet and carried a bouquet of talisman roses and yellow pompons. Her small daughter, Roxane McLaughlin, as flower girl, wore a dress of white Swiss fabric embroidered with pink rosebuds, and carried a small colonial bouquet of sweetheart roses. Mr. William Nels Stalheim of Duluth served as best man for Mr. Funk.
A reception was held immediately following the ceremony. Mr. Funk and his bride left for Bemidji, where they will make their home. For travel, Mrs. Funk chose a black wool costume suit trimmed with red fox, and black accessories.
