Former Fairbury Resident Killed In Car Wreck

A former Fairbury resident, Mrs. James Gay, 32, was one of three persons killed in an Iowa car wreck over the weekend. Mrs. Gay was accompanying an Iowa family who was taking to children to a Beatrice hospital. The two children were also killed.

Reports indicated that Mrs. Gay was going to come on to Fairbury and visit friends. Mr. Gay taught at the Fairbury High School up until 1958. They now make their home in Washington, Iowa.

Bob Fristoe of Fairbury is a cousin of Mrs. Gay's husband. Friends in Fairbury thought that the family would visit at Christmas time and apparently the woman was enroute to Fairbury to visits when the accident occurred.

Funeral services for Norma Jean Gay will be held in the Presbyterian Church at Worthington on Tuesday with burial Wednesday at Faragut, Iowa.
