MRS. DANIEL REID

Died Last Night at the Home of Her Son.

One of the City's Best Known Women Passed Away and Her Death Cast a Gloom Over the City — A Brief Sketch of Her Life — The Funeral Sunday.

Ann Gray Reid died last evening at the residence of her son, John B. Dougan. Mrs. Reid was the daughter of Isaac and Martha Gray who came to America from the north of Ireland in 1817. They settled in Virginia and moved to Richmond in the year 1827. Mr. and Mrs. Gray moved to Niles, Mich., in 1829. Mrs. Reid married Wm. Dougan of Niles, who died in 1849. She married Daniel Reid in 1856 and has resided in Richmond since that time. The children who survive her are Isaac G. Dougan, Dr. Wm. T. Dougan, George B. Dougan, John B. Dougan, Mrs. I. T. Fosler, Daniel G. Reid and Mrs. Oliver H. Bogue.

Mrs. Reid was one of Richmond's best known and most highly esteemed residents, and her death has saddened many hearts. She had been ill for some time, and her death was not unexpected, but her friends were never-the-less shocked when the sad news spread over the city this morning. The family have the sympathy of the entire community.

The funeral will occur at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the residence of her son John B. Dougan. The burial will be private.
