PAUL WILLIAM GRIERSON, son of JOHANNA POWERS and JAMES GRIERSON, was born March 16, 1861 in Ontonagon County, Michigan,³²¹⁶ and died July 19, 1910 in Red Jacket, Houghton, Michigan.¹⁴⁸⁸ He is buried in Lake View Cemetery, Calumet, Houghton, Michigan.¹⁴⁸⁸

He married CLARA LYLE SWEET on February 1, 1899 in Mankato, Blue Earth, Minnesota,^{611, 1979} daughter of ELIZABETH LONGMUIR COCHRANE and KAY CHITTENDEN SWEET. She was born October 30, 1868 in Ft. Wayne, Allen, Indiana,^{76, 71} and died April 13, 1938 in Mankato, Blue Earth, Minnesota.⁷⁶ She is buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Mankato, Blue Earth, Minnesota.⁷⁹

Invitations have been received in the city to the marriage of Miss Clara Lyle Sweet, of Mankato, Minn., to Mr. Paul Grierson, on Wednesday of this week. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kay Chittenden Sweet, former residents of this city. Miss Sweet was born in Fort Wayne, and is a cousin to Miss Margaret and Miss Jennie Cochran of this city. She is a charming cultured young lady, who has always made friends upon occasion of her visits here. For the past two years Miss Sweet has been teaching in the art school of Calumet, Mich.

MANKATO, Minn., Feb. 2.—Miss Clara Lyle Sweet, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. K. C. Sweet, was married yesterday afternoon to Paul W. Grierson, of Calumet, Mich. The happy event occured at the residence of the bride's parents, 316 Byron street, at 1:30 o'clock, the Rev. L. W. Beattie, pastor of the Presbyterian church, performing the ceremony.

Calumet, Mich.—Paul W. Grierson, aged 49, prominent in the business and social life of the lake copper region for many years, died last night of Bright's disease. He leaved a wife and daughter. He was postmaster during Cleveland's last administration.

MRS. CLARA SWEET GRIERSON, 69, formerly of Minneapolis, died at Mankato after a long illness. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Frederick Giddings, La Grange, Ill.; three brothers, John C. Sweet, Minneapolis, Dr. Cyril F. Sweet, Minot, N. D., and Alfred J. Sweet, Swampscott, Mass., and Miami Beach, Fla., and a sister, Mrs. Francis P. Hoerr of Mankato.
