The Independent regrets very much to learn of the death of Mrs. K. C. Sweet of Ryder, mother of Dr. C. F. Sweet of this city, which occurred early this morning in Minneapolis. Dr. Sweet went to Minneapolis a few days ago when he learned that his mother was seriously ill. Mrs. Sweet was well known in Minot, where she had frequently visited. She is survived by her husband and five children: A. J. Sweet, Auburn, Maine; C. F. Sweet, of Minot; Mrs. Clara Sweet-Grierson, of Calumet, Mich., and Mrs. Hoerr of Mankato, Minn. The remains will be interred at the old home, Fort Wayne, Ind.
The husband, K. C. Sweet, of Ryder, is a prominent businessman.

Mrs. Elizabeth Cochrane Sweet, daughter of the late John Cochrane, for many years a prominent contractor of this city, and a sister of the Misses Agnes and Margaret Cochrane, died today at Minneapolis, Minn., following an operation. She had been the guest of her sisters here until two weeks ago, when she went to Minneapolis to undergo the operation. The husband, Kay C. Sweet, two daughters and three sons survive.
The body has been shipped here and will arrive tomorrow, and services will be held at 2:30 o'clock from the chapel at Lindenwood cemetery, Rev. D. W Moffatt and the Rev. H. B. Master officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. John Sweet, of Minneapolis, Mr. Cyril Sweet, of Minot, N. D., and Mr. Alfred Sweet, of Lewiston, Me., have returned to their respective homes and Mr. Kay Sweet, of Ryder, N. D., and daughters, Mrs. Clara Grierson, of Calumet, Mich., and Mrs. Emma Hoar, of Mankato, Minn., are remaining in the city for a longer visit with the Misses Cochrane, of Packard avenue. The visitors came to attend the funeral of Mrs. Sweet.

The Misses Cochrane, of 544 Packard avenue, have been notified of the death of their brother-in-law, Kay C. Sweet, of Mankoto, Minn., who died at the age of 75 years. The remains will arrive in Fort Wayne sometime late Sunday night or early Monday morning and funeral announcements will be made later.
Mr. Sweet, a former resident of Fort Wayne is survived by five children as follows: John C. Sweet, of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Clara Grierson and Mrs. Emma Hoerr, of Mankato, Dr. Cyril S. Sweet, of Minot, N. D., and Alfred J. Sweet, of Lewiston, Maine.

Father of Dr. C. F. Sweet Died Friday Night from Apoplexy Lived in North Dakota for Years—Remains Buried in Indiana.
K. C. Sweet, father of Dr. C. F. Sweet, well known Minot dentist, passed away Friday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clara Grierson, at Mankato, Minn., following a short illness from apoplexy. He had been ill for a short time but his condition was believed to be improving, when he suddenly became worse. Dr. Sweet was notified of his father's precarious condition, leaving at once for Mankato.
The remains have been taken to the former home, Fort Wayne, Ind., to be buried beside the remains of the wife, who passed away in Minenapolis five years ago. The remains were accompanied by Dr. Sweet and two daughters of the deceased, Mrs. Grierson and Mrs. F. P. Hoerr, both of whom reside in Mankato. Two other sons, J. C. Sweet, a Minneapolis attorney, and A. J. Sweet, millionaire shoe manufacturer of Auburn, Maine, were with their father iust a few days before he was taken ill, leaving for California, whern they now are. Owing to the long distance they were unable to attend the funeral.
Mr. Sweet was bom in Albion, N. Y., and would have been 73 years of age Tuesday, Jan. 13. For thirty years he was a railway engineer on the Chicago and Northwestern. He was married in Fort Wayne Ind., and later lived at Waseca, Mankato and Minneapolis, Minn. Mr. and Mrs. Sweet came to North Dakota fifteen years ago where Mr. Sweet engaged in the hardware business at Ryder which he conducted until a short time ago. He disposed of his business to Mr. Lucomb and left this section of the state in July making his home since with his widowed daughter Mrs. Clara Grierson in Mankato.
Mr. Sweet was a splendid type of an American and during the recent war showed his patriotism at every opportunity. The news of his death will be received with much regret on the part of many friends located thruout northwestern North Dakota.
