Vivian Huston, Ralph M. Groves Exchange Vows

Vivian L. Huston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Huston, 715 22nd St., Moline, and Ralph M. Groves, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Groves, Sherrard, were married yesterday afternoon in First Baptist Church, Moline.

The couple spoke vows at 3, the Rev. E. K. Wylie, pastor, officiating at the private ceremony.

Baskets of white gladioli appointed the chancel.

The bride wore a ballerina-length dress of white nylon organdie with touches of pink. The gown was fashioned with molded bodice, portrait neckline, cap sleeves and full skirt. The bride's fingertip net veil was held by a headband which matched her dress and she carried red rosebuds on a white Bible.

Mrs John Schnepf, Coal Valley, was her sister's matron of honor, and Raymond H. Groves, Davenport, was best man for his brother.

Mrs. Schnepf's mauve sheath dress was street length and she had a matching headpiece. Her bouquet was of mauve carnations.

The reception was held in the church Fellowship Hall. When the couple left for a northern trip, the bride wore a blue lace sheath dress with white accessories. Mr. and Mrs. Groves will reside in Sherrard.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Groves are graduates of Sherrard High School. She is employed as cashier-bookkeeper by Arnolds, Rock Island, and Mr. Groves is in the cost department of East Moline Works of International Harvester Co.

SHERRARD, Ill. — Services for Ralph M. Grovew, 70, of Sherrard will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sherrard Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Preemption Cemetery.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, where Preemption Lodge 755, AF & AM, will conduct Masonic services at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the church, of which he was a member, or the hospice unit.

Mr. Groves died Sunday at Moline Lutheran Hospital's Pathway Hospice Unit.

Mr. Groves retired in 1981 as a cost accountant for Internation Harvester East Moline Works, where he had been employed 44 years. He was the official commission treasurer for Sherrard Village Board for 34 years, and he was a Richland Grove Township clerk.

Mr. Groves married Vivian Huston in 1959 in Moline.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Groves was a member of the Masonic lodge; and was on the church's official session. was a 32nd degree Mason; and was a member of Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Moline; and American Legion Post 246, Moline.

Survivors include his wife; and a brother, Raymond, Sierra Vista, Ariz.

SHERRARD, Ill. — Services for Vivian L. Groves, 73, will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Community Presbyterian Church, Sherrard. Burial will be in Preemption Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline.

Mrs. Groves died Wednesday at Trinity Medical Canter-East Campus, Moline.

She was employed before her marriage at JC Penney Co.

Vivian Huston married Ralph Groves in 1959 in Moline. He died in 1986.

She was a member of Community Presbyterian Church and the Ladies Aid Society. Memorials may be made to the church.

Survivors include sisters, Marjorie Schnepf, East Moline; Natalie (Mrs. James) Bizarri, Coal Valley; and Mary Louise Liston, Austin, Texas; a brother, Kennard C., East Moline; and nieces and nephews, including Kimberly Baldwin, Staley, N.C., whom she helped raise.
