Funeral services for Herbert Hansen, 65, who collapsed and died from a heart attack in his car Wednesday night will be held at the Howell-Edwards Chapel Saturday at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens.
Mr. Hansen, who had just moved to Turner, where he was to become caretaker of the Free Methodist Camp now under development, was driving his car and became ill at 12th and Center streets NE. He stopped to permit his wife to drive and collapsed about 9:25 p.m. Willamette Ambulance was called to take Mr. Hansen to the Salem Memorial Hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival. Mr. Hansen had had a previous heart attack last December.
A retired bookkeeper, Mr. Hansen was with Master Service Stations here for 18 years before retiring in February. Prior to that he had operated a tire shop here for some time. Born at Elsinore, Calif., Mr. Hansen lived at Falls City as a youth and then moved to Springfield, where he was graduated from high school. He came to Salem from Portland 30 years ago.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Edna F. Hansen, Turner; three sons, Herbert Hansen Jr., Cottage Grove, and William and Bernard Hansen, both Seattle; a daughter, Mrs. Louise Hansen Archer, Seattle; a sister, Mrs. Mary Wren, Spokane; and a half-sister, Miss Lena Buell, Salem.
