One of the first white children born in this section of the country, Marion Herbert Buell, member of one of Oregon's old pioneer families, died at his home at 1360 Waller street Monday.
Born 82 years ago in Elkhorn, Oregon, Buell spent most of his life in Yamhill county and had Indian children as his playmates. A retired farmer, he came to Salem to make his home 16 years ago. He was a member of the United Brethren church.
Survivng are his wife, Anna, of Salem; two daughter[s], Miss Lena Buell of [S]alem and Mrs. Mary Wren of Washougal, Wash.; a son, Herbert Hanson of Salem; a brother, Charles W. Buell of Jefferson; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Announcement of funeral services will be made later by the Howell-Edwards chapel (Walker-Howell Funeral Home).

Anna Blair Buell, who had resided in Salem for 21 years, died Sunday at her home at 1360 Waller st., following three years' illness. She was 76.
Mrs. Buell was born in Solomon City, Kansas, September 3, 1873, and came to Oregon when 16 years old. She married Venard Hanson, who died a few years later.
At Sheridan in 1899 she married Marion Herbert Buell, son of a pioneer family for whom the community of Buell in Polk county was named. Mr. Buell's father and grandfather built a chapel, originally called the Plains, more than 100 years ago at the site which later became Buell.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Buell had been employes of California Packing company in Salem in recent years. He died five years ago. She was a member of the Free Methodist church.
Surviving are two daughters, Lena Buell of Salem and Mrs. Mary Wren of Walla Walla, Wash., a son, Herbert Hanson of Salem; a brother, Oscar N. Blair of Gresham; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p. m. Tuesday at the Howell-Edwards chapel with the Rev. J. N. Walker officiating. Interment will be in City View cemetery.
