Long-Time Pioneer Dies
Services on Monday for Loyd R. Harris, 65
Loyd R. Harris, 64, pioneer area farmer of the Council Valley community died at his home about noon Saturday. He had suffered a long illness.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home. Burial, under direction of the Davis Funeral Home, will be in New Zion cemetery on the family lot.
Harris, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Harris, was born on a farm 3 1/2 miles north of Cushing, February 23, 1898. He had lived at the present farm home 35 years.
He was married to Sylvia Morgan February 5, 1920, in Cushing. About 28 years ago he united with the Christian Avent church in Council Valley.
Relatives who survive include his wife, Mrs. Sylvia Harris of the home; one son, Martin L. Harris, route 1, Yale; four daughters, Miss Violet June Harris of the home, Mrs. Gene (Virgie) McClellin of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Dudley (Florene) Clanaham of Mafa, Texas, and Mrs. W. E. (Eva) Morton of route 1, Yale; his step-mother, Mrs. Mabel Harris, Cushing, and a brother, Clarence Harris, route 1, Yale, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, a daughter, and one sister, Mrs. Ben Powers.
