The Misses Una Kent and Charlotte Engebretson entertained at a clever canned goods shower Tuesday night in the former's home, 417 Pond street, in honor of Miss Mary Grace Martin and Albert Hetzler, whose wedding is to be an event of Oct. 3.
Cans of food formed the decorative motif for the home, and the guests all brought various kinds of canned fruit, vegetables and meat. The gifts were hidden behind a large paper can of tomato juice.
The evening was spent playing hearts, "Dirty eight" and bridegroom's court. Raymond Pilgrim won first prize, a can of pop corn, and Lorene Altekruse the consolation prize which was a can of pork and beans.
Carrying out the "can" motif still further, refreshments were served on tin pie pans, and the guests drank coffee from tin cans.
The guests included Lorene Altekruse, Juanita Cochran, Marion Meeker, Dorothy Young, Violet Klein, Clement Byrne, Carson Kemp, Kenneth Hetzler, Raymond Pilgrim, Fred Latchaw and the honored couple. Invited guests who were unable to attend included Theodora Neff, Dorothy Nicklas, Loretto Cottrell, Lawrence Harder, Carle Freese and Alfred Hanson.
