Obituary—Mrs. Chas. Green

LaBlanche Houston Green was born January 15th, 1868, the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Houston, who were pioneers, preempting the farm upon which she lived for her whole life, her birth and death occuring in this house. She received her education in the neighborhood school, entering College in 1882, which she attended for several years, but not finishing the course.

Her whole heart was in her home and her work, greatly lightening the cares and responsibilities of her mother, the burdens gradually resting more and more upon her shoulders she and her brother Sumner became the owners and managers of this fine home and farm.

She was married February 27, 1902 to Charles A. Green, by Rev. J. H. Lee, who has been her lifelong friend.

She leaves besides her husband, two sisters, Mrs. Hortense Martin, and Luella Houston and four brothers, Nile, Sumner, Dexter and Grant Houston. Her affection and care for Harvey Matney who has lived with and worked for her and her husband for the last four years was almost like that of mother and son.

She had been ill several days with influenza, when pneumonia developed terminated fatally Sunday afternoon twenty minutes past four, Dec. 22, 1918.
