A. G. Martin, pioneer Miami business man and a member of the First Legislature, died at 8:30 o'clock this morning after suffering a stroke about noon Sunday. He was 72 years old. He died at Miami Baptist hospital.
Martin, widely-known in former years in Democratic party circles, resided for many years at 130 D street southwest. He had been engaged in the harness, hardware and shoe repair business on South Main street since 1890.
Martin represented Ottawa county as a member of the lower House of the first Legislature. He was affiliated with the I. O. O. F. lodge and held membership in the Methodist church.
Under the administration of former Gov. William H. Murray, the Miamian served four years as district game warden.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. W. R. Scudder of Okmulgee and Mrs. Blanch Shepard of Los Angeles; a son, Ben Martin of Miami; a brother, Ralph Martin of Columbus, Kas., and a sister, Grace Gongany of Seattle.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The Lane Funeral home is in charge.

Mrs. Hortense Lorene Martin, 75-year-old widow of the late a. G. Martin, former Miami mayor and legislator from this county, died at 6 a. m. today at her home, 130 D street southwest. In ill health the last two years, Mrs. Martin had lived here for the last half century.
Her husband, A. G. Martin, died here in 1940. He was Ottawa county's first member of the state House of Representatives and served as Miami's mayor, then game warden for the area for many years.
Mrs. Martin's survivors include a son, Ben H. Martin, 321 A street southeast, and a daughter, Mrs. Walter Scudder of Okmulgee.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Goodson-Durnil Funeral home of Miami.
