Houston served there until 1915, later moving to Okmulgee where he helped found the Okmulgee Daily Times, which he served as vice-president until recent years. He maintained his home in Okmulgee but due to ill health was living with his daughter, Mrs. John P. Cook, 1325 NW 19.

Son of Samuel Dexter Houston, Kan. pioneer, Houston was a graduate of Kansas State college law school, and served as county clerk and county attorney of Cloud county, Kan., for 10 years before coming to Oklahoma.
