CITY WOMAN PILL VICTIM

Mrs. Louise Jackson Found by Daughter

Mrs. Louise A. Jackson, 47, former wife of Tulsa oilman L. B. Jackson Jr., was found dead at her home Wednesday, the apparent victim of an overdose of barbituates.

Mrs. Jackson's body was discovered Wednesday afternoon by her daughter, Diane Jackson, 24, who had returned recently from a trip to Mexico.

Dr. Leo Lowbeer, chief pathologist at Hillcrest Medical Center, performed and autopsy at the request of Deputy Medicine Examiner Dr. Harlan Thomas and the family.

Overdose Indicated

He said preliminary findings show an overdose of barbituates but indicated other medications found at the home could have contributed.

County Investigators Ray Bachus and Claude Davis said newspapers and mail at the house indicated Mrs. Jackson had been dead about 7 or 8 days.

She was found in a den adjoining a bedroom.

Dr. Lowbeer's preliminary findings showed no evidence of foul play or any sign of violence.

Jackson, president of the L. B. Jackson Co., had been divorced from Mrs. Jackson since September 1961 but had been separated from her for several years.

Miss Jackson said she went to her mother's home at 2139 E. 32nd St. for a visit after her return from Mexico.

Bedroom Door Locked

An outside door was open, the daughter said, but a door leading to the bedroom area was locked.

The daughter pried a window screen open to get into the house.

Investigators could find no notes from Mrs. Jackson.

Mrs. Jackson was born Sept. 23, 1914 at Enid and married Jackson June 17, 1931.

A son, L. B. Jackson 3rd, 20, is a student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Also surviving are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Houston, 1335 N. Main St., and a brother and two sisters, whose names and addresses were not immediately available.

Arrangements are pending with Stanleys Funeral Services.

Barbituates Blamed In Mrs. Jackson Death

An apparent overdose of barbituates was blamed Wednesday for the death of Mrs. Louise A. Jackson, former wife of Tulsa oilman, L. B. Jackson, Jr.

Mrs. Jackson was the daughter of former Bixby banker H. H. Houston, now of Tulsa.

Mrs. Jackson's body was found Wednesday afternoon in her home at 2139 E. 32nd St., in Tulsa, by a daughter, Diane Jackson of Tulsa.

County investigators Ray Bachus and Claude Davis said Mrs. Jackson apparently had been dead seven or eight days. They said two recently filled barbituate prescription bottles were found empty in the home.

The body was take to Hillcrest Medical Center where an autopsy was performed. Dr. Leo Lowbeer, Hillcrest chief pathologist, said preliminary tests showed death resulted from barbituates. He said there was no evidence of foul play or violence.

Mrs. Jackson and Jackson, head of the L. B. Jackson Co. in Tulsa, were divorced in September, 1961 after stormy court preceedings.

Relatives said Mrs. Jackson had been in poor health and had been under psychiatric treatment at intervals in recent years.

She had lived alone since prior to her divorce. Her body was found on the floor of a den adjoining a bedroom by her daughter, who returned Sunday from a trip to Mexico.

Miss Jackson said she found the outside door of her mother's home open, but a door leading to the den and bedroom was locked. She pried open a window to get into that part of the house.

Bachus and Davis said newspapers and mail apparently had been brought into the home on August 14. After that they had accumulated on porches and in the mailbox.

Mrs. Jackson was born in Enid and went to Tulsa from Bixby when she was 10 years of age. She attended the University of Oklahoma and formerly was active in the Tulsa Junior League.

Also surviving are a son, L. B. Jackson, 3, a student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Houston of 1335 N. Main St.; a brother Roderic Houston of 1309 S. Alleghany Ave., Tulsa, and two sisters, Mrs. Charlene Hart of Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Mercedes Hartley of Dallas, Tex.
