Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Finley of Abilene, Tex. are announcing the marriage of their daughter, Miss Muriel Marie Finley, 1802 E. 19th st., to Roderic Nile Houston, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Houston, 1335 N. Main st. The marriage vows were read by Brother Delmar Owens in the Church of Christ 16 7:30 p. m. Saturday.
The altar was decorated with baskets of white gladioli and peonies, palms, and candelabra holding lighted cathedral tapers. Each pew was marked with a large white satin bow. A program of traditional wedding music was presented by Jackie Huggins and Floyd Scott, vocalist and the Hudgens Quartet.
Given in marriage by her father the bride wore a gown of ivory brocade satin fashioned with a chapel length train. Her veil of bridal illusion fell from a halo of orange blossoms and she carried a colonial bouquet of white gardenias with showers of sweet peas and satin streamers.
Miss Tula Lenlor was maid of honor, Miss May Harris, bridesmaid and Miss Mary Lee Trout lighted the candles. The attendants wore gowns of marquisette in pastel shades, carried colonial bouquets of Spring flowers and wore halos of daisies in their hair. Oscar Bernarr was best man and the ushers were Thurman Hinkle and Lawrence Morgan.
Mrs. Finley wore a street length dress of flowered print crepe and her corsage was of white gardenias. The bridegroom's mother chose a purple street length dress with black and pink accessories and her flowers were pink gardenias.
Mr. and Mrs .Houston were hosts at a reception in their home following the ceremony. The bride's table was centered with a three tiered wedding cake. Assistants at the reception were Miss Lois Sterner, Miss Carol West, Miss Betty Smith and Miss Lecreta Hilton.
Out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Finley and daughters, Ann and Joyce, of Abilene, Tex.; Mrs. P. K. King, Okmulgee; Mrs. John P. Cook, Mrs. Guy Leners, Mrs. Seymore Danis, Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Hert, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lundy and mr. and Mrs. Henderson King, all of Broken Arrow.
After a short wedding trip the couple are now making their home at 1443 1/2 N. Main st. For traveling the bride chose a light brown dress with red accessories and a corsage of white carnations.

Roderick Houston, a retired postal worker and former engineer with the Corps of Engineers, died Saturday in a Tulsa hospital. Houston, who lived in Broken Arrow, was 64.
Houston, who worked as an engineer during the construction of the Grand River Dam, also taught in the math and history departments of the University of Tulsa.
Houston, who was a member of the Air Force, worked in connection with the FBI during world War II.
He was a graduate of the University of Tulsa.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. TUesday in the Broken Arrow Church of Christ. Burial will be held at Floral Haven Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being conducted by Moore's Eastlawn Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Murial, a son, Harold Houston, of Tulsa, and two grandchildren.
Muriel Marie Houston Arlt was born December 9, 1921, in Lone Rock, Arkansas, to Thomas Jackson and Vada Lee King Finley. She died Monday, February 6, 2017, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, at the age of 95 years. Muriel completed her secondary education in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Broken Arrow High School Class of 1940. She continued her education graduating from nursing school in 1948. She was married May 8, 1948, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Roderic Nile Houston. Upon his death she married Art Alrt, who also preceded her in death. Muriel spent most of her working life as a register nurse with St. John Hospital in Tulsa and later with the American Red Cross. She was a longtime faithful member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including quilting, especially for family members. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017, at Whispering Hills Church of Christ in Broken Arrow with Dale Graham officiating.
