Pawnee Chief, December 24, 19538626

J. A. Huston, 84, Pioneer Farmer, Services Sunday

Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Blackburn Methodist church for John Alvin Huston, 84, who passed away in a Pawnee hospital December 18.

Born January 6, 1869, in Missouri, he was married to Maggie Eva Rogers in 1897 and they moved from Missouri to the Blackburn community in 1901. They lived in and around Blackburn for over 50 years and moved to Pawnee in 1951, farming most of the time.

A charter member of the Blackburn Methodist church and active until his death, he had been in ill health for the past few months.

Surviving besides the widow of 714 Boulder street, Pawnee, is a son, Elbert Huston and two grandchildren, Alvin Leroy and Betty Ruth all of Enid and two daughters-in-law.

Another son, Otis Alvin Huston, was killed in action in France August 28, 1944, while serving with the Army.

Rev. Wm. Howard Wheat, Fairfax, conducted the services assisted by Rev. W. J. Higgins, Methodist pastor of Blackburn. Interment was at the Blackburn cemetery under the direction of the Poteet funeral home.

Services Held In Blackburn For Mrs. Huston, 84

Services were held Monday afternoon at the Blackburn Methodist church for Mrs. Maggie Eva Huston, 84, who passed away April 22, at an Enid rest home.

Mrs. Huston, who was born in Montrose, Mo., on January 6, 1877, came to Blackburn in 1902 and moved to Pawnee in 1951. She has been in Enid for the past two months.

A member of the Blackburn Methodist church, Mrs. Huston was interred in the Blackburn cemetery following her services.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. A. Huston, in 1953. Surviving are a son, Elbert R. Huston, Enid, a brother, Allen E. Rodgers, Pine Bluff, Ark., two grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
