Mr. H. Y. Irvine and Miss Luella M. Kautz surprised many of their friends by stepping off a train Saturday night as husband and wife. Only a few had an inkling that anything of the kind was on the program and these guarded their secret well. Miss Kautz went to visit relatives at Pittsburg, Pa., more than a month ago and on her return trip she was met at Springfield, Missouri by Mr. Irvine, and there at the home of Mr. Irvine's parents they were married. Mr. Irvine is one of the substantial stockmen of this county and a thorough-going man of affairs. He was the Democratic nominee for county treasurer last fall and mada a creditable race. The bride is the sister of A. J. Kautz, register of deeds of this county and she is a refined and charming lady. We join their many friends in heartiest best wishes.
The Springfield Daily Leader had the following account of the wedding and reception:
A pretty home wedding was solemnized February 24th, at 7 o'clock, p. m., at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Irvine, 1446 Lyon street, when their son, H. Y. Irvine, and Miss Luella Kautz were united in marriage by Rev. Alpha Ingle of the Robberson Avenue Baptist church.
The bride was prettily gowned in pale blue silk and carried bride roses. Miss Mattie Belle Irvine, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid, and was prettily gowned in Paris muslin, and carried yellow jonquils. Mr. and Mrs. Irvine will leave in a few days for Syracuse, Kan., where they will make their home.
The Daily Leader of February 25, says: "Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilson of East Lynn street entertained at dinner last evening in honor of Mr. Herbert Irvine and his bride. The table was beautifully decorated in Narcissus blooms and smilax, the same flowers being used in profusion throughout the rooms. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Irvine, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Irvine, Mrs. Lillian Hatcher, Miss Mattie Belle Irvine, Missis Ellis and Nana May Wilson, Jack Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilson. Mrs. W. R. Ruxton and Mrs. Rose Homan joined the party later in the evening and a delightful time was spent with music and conversation.
