Rev. John F. Wilson, pastor of the First Methodist church, solemnized the marriage ceremony yesterday at an afternoon church ceremony at 4:30 o'clock for his niece, Fredna Tweedt Fitzer, of the faculty of the San Fernando schools, and John Withers Irvine Jr., research chemist in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, at Cambridge, Mass. The service according to the church ritual was amidst a beautiful setting as the chancel was arranged and banked with the choicest of gladioli with many long spikes with unusually orchid-like light pink blossoms.
The bridal party moved slowly down the church aisle to the strains of Mendelssohn's wedding march as played by the church organist, Mrs. Vera McKenna Clayton. The bride was most attractively gowned in a stylish blue traveling suit of the prevailing mode.
The bride's attendant was Mary Jan Fitzer and the best man Dr. Arthur Kip, a physicist of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a close friend of the groom.
Fred Tweedt of San Fernando, father of the bride, gave the bride away.
Following the ceremony the wedding supper was served at the Hotel Palomar, where the table was in a lovely motif with the flowers of the summer season. After the wedding supper the bride and groom departed by auto and Dr. Arthur Kip left by plane for the east.
The wedding was attended by members of both families, the groom's mother, Mrs. Nadine Irvine of Marshall, Mo., parents of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tweedt of San Fernando; Dr. Arthur Kip of Cambridge, Mass.; Mary Jane Fitzer of San Fernando; Patricia Hinton Jacqueline Byers of Los Angeles, Carl Franklin of San Francisco, Elizabeth Merritt of Sacramento, a friend of the family, and Rev. and Mrs. John F. Wilson.
