Carthage, Mo., Jan. 14.—Henry Lee Johnson, 60-year-old Jasper county farmer living north of Carthage on route 3, died at noon today at his home. He had been in ill health for several months.
He was born March 25, 1883, in Jasper county and had lived in this district all of his live. He was married October 5, 1903, to Martha Shands, who survives.
Surviving besides the widow are four sons, Frank Johnson of Sarcoxie route 2, Mark Johnson of Carthage route 2, Hugh Johnson of the home and Glenn Johnson, who is in the navy, stationed at Arlington, Wash., and four daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Shaw of Jasper route 2, Mrs. Fern Haizlip of Sarcoxie route 1 and Misses Martha and Dorothy Johnson of the home; one brother, D. M. Johnson of Jasper; three sisters, Mrs. Oscar Follmer, Mrs. Lafe Rist and Mrs. Walker Hubbard of Jasper, and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Ulmer funeral home with burial in Fasken cemetery.

CARTHAGE, Mo.—Mrs. Martha Johnson, 75 years old, a resident of Jasper county since she was 12 years old, was found dead in her apartment at 503 Fulton street at noon Saturday. Death was attributed to natural causes.
Mrs. Johnson was born July 13, 1885, at Kingsley, Ia., and came to Jasper county with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shands. She was married in 1904 to Henry Lee Johnson, who died in 1944.
Mrs. Johnson moved to Carthage in 1956. She was a member of the First Christian church here.
Surviving are three sons, Frank E. Johnson, Jasper; Mark D. Johnson, Topeka, Kan.; and Glen D. Johnson, Marysville, Wash.; four daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Shaw, Carthage, Mrs. Fern Haizlip, Sarcoxie; Mrs. Martha Reed and Mrs. Dorothy Lou Slates, both Carthage; one brother, Elverton Shands, New Plymouth, Idaho; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Phelps, Alva, Okla; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
