Miss Ellen King Is Married To Charles E. Kettle, Jr.

Miss Ellen King, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. King, 326 North Eleventh Street, became the bride of Charles Edward Kettle, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs.. Charles Edward Kettle of St. Augustine, Fla., in a beautiful and impressive wedding ceremony performed at 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the home of the bride's parents. The wedding marked the third in the family to be solemnized in the Reid homestead. The bride's mother and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Benjamin Myrick, were married in the lovely old mansion.

The ceremony was performed in the living room where an altar was arranged in front of the large fire place. Honeysuckle vines draped over the mantle in the center of which stood a slender vase of chrysanthemums in autumn shades formed a lovely background for the ceremony. Palms and vases of chrysanthemums set on pedestals decorated with autumn leaves banked the fireplace on either side of which stood tall seven branch candelabra in which were white cathedral tapers. Bouquets of zinnias and gladioli were arranged throughout the house.

Rev. D. H. Hammond, pastor of the Reid Memorial United Presbyterian Church, was the officiating clergyman and read the single ring ceremony in the presence of a number of relatives and friends.

Preceding the service Mrs. James Weston, of Newark, Ohio, formerly of this city, accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Myrick of Whiting, Ind., also a former resident here, sand, "I Love You Truly," (Bond) and "At Dawning," (Cadman). Mrs. Myrick played the wedding march from "lohengrin" for the entrance of the bridal party and also the Mendelssohn recessional.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, was gowned in brick rust velvet, made on princess lines and distinguished by its simplicity. It was floor length and fashioned with pointed collar of Battenburg lace and elbow length puffed sleeves. She wore matching slippers and carried an arm bouquet of chrysanthemums in fall shades.

Her maid of honor, Miss Clarissa Ahl, a cousin, was gowned in forest green velvet fashioned as the bride. She wore matching slippers and her flowers also were an arm bouquet of chrysanthemums in the autumn colors. Both the bride and Miss Ahl wore seed pearl brooches, heirlooms of the grandmother, Mrs. Benjamin Myrick.

Little Miss Katherine King, cousin of the bride and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John M. King of Dayton, Ohio, was the flower girl. She wore a frock of yellow velvet and carried a basket of pom pom chrysanthemums.

Mr. Kettle was attended by Robert Behrmann of Anderson as best man.

Following the wedding a reception for the guests was held and a buffet supper served in the dining room where the table was ornamented with a three-tiered wedding cake and a large cut glass bowl of zinnias. Silver tea services were at each end of the table and were presided over by Miss Geraldine Johnson and Mrs. Norman Shute.

After a wedding trip through the East Mr. and Mrs. Kettle will be at home at 418 National Road West. Mrs. Kettle traveled in a costume suit of green with brown accessories. They will be at home after Oct. 10.

Mrs. Kettle is a graduate of Morton High School, attended Earlham College, and received her degree at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, where she is affiliated with the Delta Gamma Sorority. She is a member of the local chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa. For the past year she has been an instructor in art at Garfield School and formerly taught in the schools of Hamilton, Ohio.

Mr. Kettle attended Phillips Academy, Andover, Mass., and Rider's College, Trenton, N. J. He is affiliated with the Sargent Wallpaper and Paint Store.
