KING-IRVINE WEDDING INTERESTING SOCIAL EVENT

One of the interesting mid-summer weddings in which much interest has centered since the cards were issued was that of Miss Margaret Hart Irvine of the Fairville neighborhood and Mr. Raymond King, a prosperous young farmer of the western part of the county near Sweet Springs.

The nuptial service which was witnessed by about one hundred and fifty guests took place at the country home of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Irvine, parents of the bride several miles north of marshall, Tuesday, July 24, at 9 a. m. The arrangements were painstaking and beautiful, with an imposing floral arch and improvised chancel on the generous porch, which gave a fine view of the bridal party to the large number of guests who were many of them seated on the lawn. The arch was artistically arranged with asparagus fern and a wealth of queen ann lace, the feathery combination was very effective and rendered the grouping at the alter picturesque and attractive.

After a violin solo "Because," played by Mr. A. T. Vawter, accompanied by his wife on the piano, to the strains of Lohengrin played by them, the minister, Rev. W. N. Robertson, Carrollton, led the way to the arch, then came the ribbon bearers, Miss Clara Irvine and Mrs. Russell B. Nicholas, sisters of the bride, forming an aisle for the bride and groom.

The ring ceremony was used in an effective way, and the wedding was in exquisite taste throughout.

The bride wore a filmy crepe meteor, gracefully fashioned her veil caught with orange blossoms extending the length of the train, and she carried a shower bouquet of brides roses.

The ribbon bearers wore pink and blue crepe de chene.

After congratulations refreshments of brick cream, cake and mints were served, and the service of punch continued during the receiving hours.

Mr. and Mrs. King left soon after the ceremony in the grooms car for a wedding trip to Colorado, after which they will be at home in Sweet Springs, the date announced is September 1st.

The bride is one of Saline's charming girls from an old and representative family of the county and will no doubt prove a real helpmate to him with whom she has linked her life.

He is one of Saline's agriculturists of the western part of the county with great stability of character and a gentleman in the fullest sense. The couple, who are both popular in the social life of Saline, are receiving congratulations from a wide circle of friends.

Those who attended the wedding in addition to Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Vawter from Marshall were Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Irvine, grandparents of the bride; Mrs. Keith Goodwin and children, Mr. and Mrs. James A. Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Laurie, Dr. Wm. Harrison, Mrs. R. L. Hyatt, Miss Sallie Ervine and Ed. Brandecker. Those from a distance were Mrs. George Parish and children of Kansas City, Mr. and Mrs. Frank King of Lafayette, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Louis King, Mr. and Mrs. George King, the two latter parents of the groom; Miss Clara and Elwin King, sister and brother of groom; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Humphrey and Henry King, all of Sweet Springs; Mrs. L. H. Herring of St. Louis, an aunt of the bride and Miss Edith Kleissmidt of Higginsville.

The cutting of the bride's cake was interesting as usual and Miss Clara Irwine, sister of the bride, found the ring, and Miss Virginia Long the dime.

The bride gave her bouquet to her mother before starting on her trip.
