OAKRIDGE - A memorial service will be held today, March 16, for Gertrude T. La Mar of Oakridge, who died March 14 of age-related causes. She was 85.

La Mar was born April 26, 1916, in Fruitland, Idaho, to Charles and Viola Bean Shedd. She married William La Mar in Newport on Oct. 13, 1957. He died Dec. 6, 1994.

She grew up in North Bend before moving to Oakridge in 1958. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting. She was a member of the Oakridge Moose lodge and Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two stepdaughters, Barbara McKirdy of Eugene and Cathy Kelley of Anaheim, Calif.; a stepson, Bill of Salem; a sister, Annette Heffer of Sherwood; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Thelma Logan, and a son, Charles Chapman, died previously.

Today's service will be held at 2 p.m. at Oakridge Chapel of the Woods Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oakridge Senior Meals Program.
