Ulysses S. Cuin

ROY — Ulysses S. "Red" Cuin, 96, Roy, died Saturday, Jan. 24, at Roy.

He was born May 8, 1890, in Pleasant Hill, Texas. He married Lula Cuin in 1924. She preceded him in death in 1926. He then married Jennie Combs in 1938 in North Bend, and she preceded him in death in 1983.

Mr. Cuin served in the Navy during World War I, and was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the World War I veterans group. He had lived most of his life in North Bend, moving to Roy in February 1985. He was a frequent contributor to the Public Forum column of The World.

Survivors include stepdaughters, Mrs. Dick (Nita) Ortiz, Riverdale, Mrs. Walt (Irma) Barth, Mrs. David (Jewel) Brault, both of Eugene, Grace Lowther, Crescent, Calif., Mrs. W.R. (Dorothea) Bickerton, Missoula, Mont., Mary Hinkle, Portland, Lucy Wolford, Ephrata, Wash.; 22 grandchildren, and many great and great-great-grandchildren.
