Learys Celebrate 50th Anniversary

Hubert and Paige Leary of Harrisonburg celebrated their 50th anniversary at dinner with their children, relatives and friends at the Harrisonburg Elks Club March 7.

The Learys were married March 7, 1947.

She is the daughter of the late Nell Grove Baugher and Perry H. Baugher of Harrisonburg, and he is the son of the late Statton H. and Carrie McLaughlin Leary of Dayton.

mr. and Mrs. Leary have a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas S. and Amy L. Leary of Dayton; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan L. and Robert L. Davis of Elkton; and four grandchildren, Hunter L. and Tanner S. Leary, Justin S. and Garott B. Davis.

Hubert E. Leary

Hubert Elwood Leary, 82, of 1403 Crawford Ave., Harrisonburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at Skyline Terrace in Woodstock.

Mr. Leary was born Aug. 2, 1924, in Dayton and was the son of the late Statton and Carrie McLaughlin Leary.

He graduated from Dayton High School and attended Shenandoah College. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He owned the Paint Center and following his retirement was a bus driver for James Madison University and Harrisonburg City Transit. He was a member of the Exchange Club; Harrisonburg Elks Lodge No. 450; the Masons, Shriners' and American Legion, and Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

On March 7, 1947, he married Paige Baugher Leary; she survives.

Also surviving are a son, Thomas S. Leary of Mount Sidney; a daughter, Susan P. Davis of Elkton; a sister, Betty Miller of Bridgewater; four grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew.

Father John Glover will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of te Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. His body will be cremated at the Lindsey Cremation Chapel and burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Woodbine Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
