Marriage of Miss Yancey To A. N. McLaughlin Announced by Parents

Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Yancey of Waynesboro announce the marriage of their daughter, Kathleen Fontaine, to Aubrey Norwood McLaughlin, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. R. McLaughlin of Dayton, Va. The ceremony was performed in the home of the Rev. James A. Swain, pastor of the United Brethren Church, September 6th, at ten o'clock in the morning, at Dayton.

The bride was attired in a pink jersey two piece suit with brown accessories. Her flowers were gardenias.

After an extensive wedding trip through the northern states the bride will return to her home here for the duration. Mr. McLaughlin will return to Camp Lee, Va., where he is stationed.

Kathleen Y. McLaughlin

GREENVILLE — Kathleen Y. McLaughlin, 78, of 245 Old Staunton Road, died Thursday evening (Feb. 21, 2002) at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville.

She was born June 4, 1923, in Augusta County, a daughter of John F. and Maggie Perry Yancey.

Mrs. McLaughlin was a member of Old Providence A.R.P. Presbyterian church in Spottswood.

On Sept. 6, 1942, she married A. Norwood McLaughlin, her loving husband of nearly 60 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Lawrence.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Richard Y. McLaughlin of Forest, and David W. and Carolyn S. McLaughlin of Spottswood; five sisters, Lorraine and Elmer Lapley of Waynesboro, Marjorie Dinkle of Mount Solon, Jean Randolph of Leesburg, Anne and William Stogdale of Waynesboro, and Dolores "Lody" and Richard Bosard of Penn Valley, Calif.; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Allen, Kimberly Elaine, Timothy Hunter, S/Sgt. David W. Jr. and Daniel Aubrey; and four great-grandchildren, Nikki, Jessie, Jeffrey and Natasha.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Dayton Cemetery by the Rev. Max Bolin.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at the Kyger and Trobaugh Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

Aubrey N. McLaughlin, 90

Aubrey Norwood McLaughlin, 90, of Fishersville, died Monday, July 9, 2007, at Shenandoah Nursing Home.

Mr. McLaughlin was born June 10, 1917, in Dayton, and was the son of the late Hunter Aubrey and Marjorie McNeal McLaughlin.

He lived in the Shenandoah Valley most of his life and served in the Army as a Sergeant during World War II. He was a longtime member of the Riverton United Methodist Church in Front Royal. He worked in Food Service for many years and was the manager of the Howard Johnson Restaurant in Front Royal for 25 years.

His wife, Kathleen McLaughlin, preceded him in death. They were married Sept. 6, 1942.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Y. McLaughlin of Lynchburg and David W. McLaughlin of Greenville; a daughter, Carolyn McLaughlin of Greenville and a sister, Robbie Farris of Charlotte, N.C.

The Rev. Kevin Haynes will conduct a graveside service 11 a.m. Friday at the Dayton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
